An Afternoon at the Wild Waters Lodge, Jinja
Any adrenaline lovers in Uganda will tell you Jinja is the place to visit. Dabbed as “East Africa’s adventure capital” the city has a lot to offer from water activities, horseback riding to Bungee jumping. But on this occasion, the purpose of our trip was for a relaxed afternoon at the mighty Nile with excellent company. I had heard of Wild waters Lodge but had never had the opportunity to experience this place. Located on a small Island of river Nile, there is soo much beauty to soak in at Wild Waters. The wooden raised walkways raise your anticipation of what to find at the end. The beautiful wooden structures and grass thatched rooms add to the naturalistic feel of this place. Its a perfect escape from the bustle and hustle of the city, the fresh air, the sounds of the Nile and melody of the birds are set to give you a relaxed feeling.
This place is suitable for people for all ages, right from the toddlers to the grandparents; it’s perfect for the family city get outs and honeymooners. One can take a deep in the natural swimming pool and get an “Insta worthy” picture of the mighty waves of the River Nile. Our trip was during the weekday (Thursday) which is a less busy day compared to weekends that have a lot of day trippers.
I didn’t get the opportunity to check out the rooms as 10 rooms were all booked, I would love to come back here for a night.
The boat ride from the Island leaves between 4:00 and 4:30 pm so it’s advisable to go there a little bit early if you are not spending a night.
